A band from Coombe Dean School entertained shoppers at Morrisons in Plymstock and youngsters from seven primary schools sang to the crowds.

They were Dunstone, Hooe, Wembury, Oreston, Goosewell, Newton Ferrers and Pomphlett primary's.

Bruce Heslop, vocational chairman for Rotary Club of Saltram, said: "We collected £500 for the Literacy in a Box Trust, just £50 short of buying two boxes.

I would just like to thank the schools for participating and giving the general public some great entertainment.

Morrisons give us permission and cleared the area.

They are very, very good to us."
